Molecular diagnosis of species in the lanternfish genus Diaphus

Abstract : A large nucleotide-sequence dataset of lanternfish Diaphus spp. (N=627, including 429 sequences from the BOLD and GenBank databases and 198 new sequences from the tropical southwestern Pacific, aligned over 652 bp of the CO1 gene) was collated. Automatic speciesdelimitation approaches pointed to 60 operational taxonomic units (OTUs). Each OTU is here diagnosed by a combination of nucleotides designated by A. Fedosov, G. Achaz and N. Puillandre's MOLD algorithm.
