INSERM - 2005 activity report : scientists at the National Institute of Health and Medical Research work toward improving human health

Since 2001, Inserm has been introducing a series of reforms in order to acquire new developmental tools. The year 2005 is the year ofmaturity, these tools having now come to fruition for implementing Inserm’s missions in basic research and public health.(...)Inserm is the only French public institution dedicated to research and public health and has, as such, a highly specific mission. Its primarygoals are to ensure the attractiveness and mobility of biomedical careers by assisting individuals in their professional choices, organizing theresearch continuum from basic to clinical, therapeutic, and ultimately public health research, to promote the knowledge produced in theprocess by maintaining a permanent link with industry, and finally to develop a conquering European and international policy.
