Les styles interactifs des parents polynésiens dans le cadre de l’aide aux devoirs : l’exemple de la langue tahitienne

Abstract : Abstract This article presents the results of exploratory based research on interactive-related learning of six mother-child dyads living in French Polynesia, on the island of Tahiti. The purpose of the study was to define the parents' interactive styles while helping children to read a book in Tahitian and to determine the role of the Tahitian language in the household. The samples included six mothers between the ages of 28 and 34 years old, all of Polynesian origin and speakers or semi-speakers of the Tahitian language, and 9-year-old children (2 girls and 4 boys). The interactions were filmed and transcribed in accordance with ICOR standards. The analyses highlighted the presence of limited exchanges and direct interactive styles for all the mothers. Furthermore, the results suggest that the suggestive and empowering interactive styles appear to be the most efficient both for the educational support of children and for the development of language skills in both Tahitian and French.
