Multi-scale approaches and innovative materials for sustainable mobility
The overall theme of the Chair is centered on the field of materials, with a stated environmental ambition that will be declined on 2 major axes: - Understanding and control of durability: with a focus on understanding, predicting and improving resistance to wear, fatigue, cracking and thermo-mechanical aging. - Understanding and control of the life cycle of materials (polymers, metals, textiles and their compounds): this involves the study and development of experimental and theoretical means to minimize the carbon footprint, during the design, use, and after use of manufactured products.
The chair is also intended to be a framework for promoting synergies within and between the three involved laboratories, MATEIS, LAMCOS and IMP. It promotes the pooling of scientific skills related to materials science, in order to establish relationships between (micro) structures and processes or between microstructures and properties.
